Last month I have been mostly reading:

Jonathan Franzen – The Corrections
Michael Herr – Dispatches
JD Salinger – The Catcher in the Rye
Richard Keeble – The Journalistic Imagination
Pico Iyer – Falling Off The Map
Ayn Rand – The Art of Non-Fiction

Peaks, prose and projects

Landed in Nepal this afternoon for a three-day visa run. Beautiful weather, although have been stuck inside all day working. Will explore the city tomorrow. Writing a piece for Esquire Middle East on what, if anything, is left of the city’s hippy community. Also have six (6) freelance articles to do in the next two weeks, two contract editing/subbing jobs and the setting up of a mobile applications company (albeit with some rather experienced assistance). Read most of Michael Herr’s Dispatches on the plane. Brilliantly written; his wild, scattergun prose mirrors the confusion of the war and is one of the best books I have ever read about conflict. If anyone is in Dubai on Sunday night, check out Narain Jashanmal’s creative writing workshop at the Shelter.
